Last Minute Ideas For Gifts That Make An Impact

Well, it’s getting down to the wire.  Hopefully you’ve already made your list, checked it twice, and can coast in to the holiday weekend.  If upon checking your list for the second time you discovered a few folks you have yet to find something special for, we’ve got some great ideas for gift that are not only exciting to receive, but also make an impact on a local non-profit.

1. Tickets to a show at the Preston Arts Center, presented by the Henderson Area Arts Alliance

We are lucky in Henderson to have a world-class, 960 seat theatre in our own backyard.  We are even more fortunate to host on its stage, stellar national and internationally touring performance artists.  After the first of the year, we look forward to shows such as All Star Idols, Songs in the Key of Wonder, Dance Kaleidoscope, Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre and the Wonder Bread Years.  Tickets to a Henderson Area Arts Alliance show are not only a memorable experience, but also help to support the mission of the Arts Alliance’s mission “to create a vibrant community by providing quality arts experiences for all.”  View the season of events here, and purchase tickets here.

2. Kyndle Gift Cards

Small business is the backbone of a diverse and prosperous economy, providing a livelihood for owners and their families, opportunities for successful employment and essential goods and services for the entire region’s population. Kyndle recognizes the fundamental role of small business and works to support and encourage current owners and entrepreneurs alike.  One of Kyndle’s best programs which supports our stakeholders is their gift certificate program.  Gift certificates are sold in $10, $15, and $25 denominations at the Kyndle office and are redeemable at any participating Kyndle stakeholder business.  To purchase, stop by the Kyndle headquarters or call 270.826.7505.

3. Downtown Henderson Partnership Gift Cards

The Downtown Henderson Partnership exists to promote, improve and preserve the unique character and economic vitality of downtown Henderson, Kentucky.  They have created a gift card program, which directly supports their mission, and drives sales to their downtown retail partners.  There are so many great shops to choose from in our historic downtown, a DHP Gift Card is a one stop shop for supporting local, and intentional gift giving.  To purchase, stop by the Downtown Henderson Partnership office on Main Street, or give them a call at 270.827.0016.

4.  2017 Dudes for Charity Monthly Calendar, supporting Healing Reins Theraputic Riding

This one of for that Dirty Santa Christmas Party, or for that someone on your list “who has everything,” including a sense of humor.  The monthly calendar features burly, bearded dudes doing work around the farm.  Proceeds from the sales of calendars benefit the “Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding” Center located in Corydon, KY.  Healing Reins is a 501(c)3 non-profit program that allows children and adults with disabilities to reach their full potential through interaction with horses. Photographers from the Evansville Photography Group have donated their time and expertise to arrange this calendar in hopes to raise awareness for this unique program.  You can purchase online here, or here at the Depot Welcome Center, 101 N. Water St.

5.  Henderson Apparel

We’ve spent the past year developing and growing the gift shop in our office and we now have a very nice selection of Henderson apparel and accessories for men, women and children.  Proceeds from all of our merchandise sales help us to also further our mission of serving as ambassadors of our community, in an effort to benefit our local economy by marketing our assets and creating memorable experiences for visitors and residents alike.  You can shop online 24/7, or stop by our office between the hours of 9-5.

6. Donations in Honor or Memory of Someone

There are many, many worthy organizations that work hard to make Henderson, KY a better place to visit and call home, too many to name.  Whether it be a gift to the Community Foundation of Henderson, United Way of Henderson, your church, or directly to a local non-profit of your choosing, charitable contributions are a sure-fire way to warm someone’s heart.

From all of us at the Henderson County Tourist Commission, we wish you the Happiest of Holidays, and a wonderful New Year!
