Ohio Valley’s Got Talent, sponsored by Colonels 2 College, is accepting applications for a talent show to be held at 7 p.m. on February 26, 2011, at the Fine Arts Center at Henderson Community College, 2660 South Green Street.
Auditions will be held Thursday, February 17, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at South Middle School, 800 South Alves Street. Contestants should prepare a 90-second routine and a 90-second back-up routine. Performers chosen to compete will have access to sound equipment.
Any instruments used in auditions must be carried in by hand in one trip. If the act requires any additional equipment, a 90 second DVD should be brought to the audition. Members of the act should be dressed in performance costume as they present the DVD. Those using a backing track must bring a CD. Singers are required to sing a cappella. Performances by finalists are limited to three minutes.
The audition fee is $20 per act, and a minimum of fifteen acts will be selected to compete for the grand prize ($1000), second place ($500), and third place ($250). Viewing the auditions is open to the public for a fee of $5 per person. Auditions will be recorded and sent by WFIE to America’s Got Talent.
Tickets for the finals of Ohio Valley’s Got Talent are $15. Beginning January 21, tickets will be at Matt’s, from any Colonels 2 College board member, or by contacting Arlene Alexander at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets will be available at the Fine Arts Center the night of the performance.
Proceeds from Ohio Valley’s Got Talent will go to Colonels 2 College, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarship funds for Henderson County High School students who will attend Henderson Community College.
