Henderson Featured in Romantic Kentucky Book

Don’t think of Henderson as a hot date spot? Think again. Did you know Henderson was featured in “Romantic Kentucky: More Than 300 Things to Do for Southern Lovers.” The book, co-written by Lelia W. Salisbury and Laura E. Sutton, describes some of the famous (and lesser known) romantic places in Kentucky.

The review on Google Books says this of the book: “Taking a broad view of romance, this book includes something for readers of every different lifestyle, interest, and income. You’ll find everything from a bed-and-breakfast inn to a riverboat cruise to a historic Shaker village to a scenic blackberry farm.”

Henderson’s W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival is featured in the book, described as a date where great jazz music and barbecue make it hard to beat. We agree!

This year’s 2017 Handy Blues Festival dates will be June 15-18, but the city will be bustling with live music at lunch and happy hours throughout June 12-15, 2017.  The festival books some of the hottest national and local blues talent each year. The opening day of the festival is highlighted by great live music in the scenic Audubon Mill Park on the Henderson Riverfront. The music continues every day from Wednesday evening to Sunday. There are a host of other events throughout the week as well, including a Mardi Gras-style Street Strut, Handy Lunch Breaks at local eateries, dance classes, and much more.
