Exciting New Events Come to Hendeson this Fall: Paint-Out & Songfest

Ohio Valley River Paint Out

We are thrilled to announce a new event coming to Henderson this fall. Artists and visitors are invited for the first Ohio Valley River Paint Out September 22, 23, & 24, 2011, in Henderson, KY.

Walk the tree lined streets shading Victorian homes or stroll the riverfront with its sweeping views of the Ohio River to find the perfect set up to paint. Lunch will be provided 2 days with demo/lecture on Thursday evening.

A public art sale will be held on Saturday morning. Paintings will be judged and awards presented for Best of Show, a River View Award, and 1st, 2nd. 3rd. in each division oil/acrylic, pastel & watercolor. There will also be a Children Paint Out on Saturday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 2 yrs. To 12yrs. Old.

Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival
Featuring Hit Country Songwriter’s Kerry Kurt Phillips & Friends – The Homecoming Performance

Meet the writers behind the country music you love! This September 8-9 the Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriter’s Festival will hold it’s second annual event. This year is bigger and better than before. The event, which benefits The Riverbend Academy features a day of workshops and a night of music for the public.

This is a great opportunity to hear the hits you love performed by the songwriters who penned them. Writers will describe the stories behind the songs and perform them live on stage at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

Artist Kerry Kurt’s biggest hits include the George Jones Smash, “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair”, Joe Diffie’s, “Is It Cold In Here”, “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox”, “In My Own Backyard” and “Pickup Man” which spent a record 5 weeks at number 1. Tim McGraw’s “Down On the Farm” and “Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It”, are both products of Kerry Kurt’s pen.
