Bluegrass in the Park Starts Tonight in Audubon Mill Park

Pokey LaFarge will take the stage Friday evening
for two performances at 7pm and 10pm

The Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival will begin in Audubon Mill Park Friday, August 9 with the evening’s first musicians, The Henhouse Prowlers taking the stage 5 p.m. Other performers throughout the evening include Pokey LaFarge and Hot Day At The Zoo. All of the bands promise a great evening of entertainment and lively stage presence!

At 6:30 p.m. runners and walkers will begin the Fox on the Run 5K and the Jammin’ & Jumpin’ Street Pole Vault at the north end of the park will begin shortly after. Food vendors will be available throughout the night, so come down and enjoy dinner and music in the park!

On Saturday, Keith Vincent kicks off the morning with music during Breakfast in the Park. Stop in the park and enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, eggs and beverages for this fun, morning event. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Folklife vendors will be set up in the park for a variety of demonstrations and activities, including dulcimer music, origami, antique bicycles, quilt making and more.

From 9 a.m. – 11 p.m bands will play interchanging sets on the main stage. This year’s performers include The Shade Tree Players, The Sons of Bluegrass, King’s Highway, Detour, Jerry Salley & Breakin’ New Ground, Westbound Rangers and Audie Blaylock & Redline.

 Events throughout the day include the Pickin’ & Pedalin’ Bicycle Tour, starting at 8 a.m., continued street pole vaulting and The Flippin’ & Flyin’ Disc Golf Tournament at Atkinson Park. Party Jump Rentals Fun Zone will feature inflatables for children. Don’t forget to pack your lawn chairs or blankets for this fantastic FREE event. Street parking is available throughout downtown.
