Art Programs in November at the Library

The Henderson County Public Library will offer art programs for all ages during the first week of November. This special series of programs is designed to celebrate art in the community and show support for the 6th Annual Downtown Henderson Partnership Art Hop on Friday, November 7. All events are free and open to the public.

Make-N-Take Craft Saturday – Saturday, November 1, All Day – For Children

Stop by the Children’s Department any time during the day for simple, take-home crafts!

Dia de los Muertos – Saturday, November 1, All Day – For Teens

Learn about Day of the Dead customs from Central and South America and create sugar skull crafts!

Tile Art Contest – Wednesday, November 5, 2:30 – 4:00 pm – For Children

Each participant will be given a tile, markers, and other materials to complete their project. All tiles will be displayed in the Children’s Department from November 5 to 12 for patrons to pick their favorite! The winner will be announced on Thursday, November 13, and there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded!

Audubon Art Live! – Wednesday, November 5, 6:30 – 7:30 pm – For Adults

How did Audubon do it? With a feathery friend from Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, learn how John James Audubon’s artistic process compares with real animal behavior in the wild. Experts from John James Audubon State Park & Museum, RiverBend Academy School for Visual & Performing Arts, and local wildlife artists will join us for a panel discussion on capturing nature’s beauty through painting, sketch, photography, and even mixed media! All skill levels are welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own artwork to share.

The Crafty Genealogist – Saturday, November 8, 10:00 – 11:30 am – For Adults
